Confessions of a Buffy Addict
I don't need Buffy. I can stop anytime. really!
After a glut of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that started with a two season marathon viewing during the January ice storm and was followed by the first season of Angel I figured it was time to take a break. I called my pusher and got a fresh shipment of season 5 of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine thinking I would watch it, them maybe move on to season 4 of The Sopranos (from the library) and then seasons 3 and 4 of Red Dwarf (currently on order from amazon.com). Well I watched The Sopranos and started in on Deep Space 9 but it was not very long before the first symptoms of Buffy withdraw started to set in (pacing around the house, wondering who Dawn is, shaking of the hand, wanting to see Willow smile, etc.) I thought I was stronger than this but last night I broke down and watched "Buffy vs. Dracula" and "Real Me" the first two episodes in Buffy season 5. All I can say is. I feel MUCH better now.

i had only minorly dabbled in buffy prior to season 5. my michael & i used to watch episodes from season 4 long distance, so i thought i knew what the hell was going on before they threw dawn in at the end of what i thought was otherwise a throwaway first episode.
i remember actually yelling, "WHAT? WHAT?!! where did SHE come from? what's THAT about?" that feeling didn't go away for several more episodes, but joss handled it so admiraby well that i was at that point entirely hooked. well, and this is major spike season. yee!
Posted by: gl. on February 13, 2004 03:48 PMYeah, I was a bit confused about Dawn but by now have figured out that we are supposed to assume she has been there all along. there is still something about her that is... I don't know what, but something is up with that girl.
Posted by: Leopoldo on February 15, 2004 07:55 PMThe WB just announced that it has cancelled the Angel TV show. Details are at: Film Roar: Season 5 of Angel to be the Last
Posted by: Leopoldo on February 16, 2004 09:38 AMI just hit the halfway mark in Season 5 of Buffy and god am I sucked into it! It is not funny. Season 2 of Angel just hit the halfway as well and got much better. I love those story arcs that flow over whole seasons.

Posted by: Leopoldo on February 24, 2004 11:29 AM"confessions of a spuffy addict". self-portrait with smg & jm, mourning the loss of my biggest voyeuristic addiction; buffy the vampire slayer. in particularly dark times in my life, i have seriously latched onto the ups and downs of "spike" & "buffy"--a single episode can set the tone for a week or longer for me. i have found myself living vicariously thru fictional characters--not just on screen but in my reading as well. truly, i have found there are other addicts like me who have been swallowed whole by this universe. i don't know how i am going to handle the end, which coincides with this show. but i will raise my glass to "spuffy" and pray they live on....
Posted by: clintoen on November 10, 2004 12:06 AMOh god I am such a Buffy addict! its not even funny. I even get my friends adicted. like one of my friends, i got her so addicted that she is like, "Kate, I'm going to stop. I really am." and i look at her and go "do you think you could live without knowing what happens?" and then she's like "NO!!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME!?!?!?!" it is so hilarious. and i dont want to assume anything, but i think im one of the BIGGEST spuffy fans there is. Im a freak and i like it. lol. well im happy there are other people out ther like me. *sigh* now i must wach OMWF on dvd. deal with it.
