Internal Censors

Posted in Geekdom, Music at 11:11 pm by Leopoldo

I just came up with a great name for a band (or a short movie): Internal Censors. It makes a great pun for the Star Trek crowd and still works on normals. The music could be full of love ballads about insecure conversations.

    Hey there, Leopoldo!

You seem to know quite a bit about classical music…so perhaps you can help me with a tune that has been haunting me for a looong time.

You can hear this choral piece here (film trailer for “The Krays”):

Or here (a Webbio flashtoon entitled “A Day in Hell”):

(Sorry, you may have to copy and paste. Please let me know if you experience any problems viewing either of these links.)

This piece has been used in TV commercials, occasionally in films, and most recently in an E! Entertainment Television documentary about the film “The Exorcist”. (I tried to contact E!, but I received no response.)

Note: Though it may sound strikingly similar, it is NOT from Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana”. It is almost always identified as “O Fortuna” but it is clearly not that piece of music. Hope you can help! It’s a real stumper!

    Thanks!

Hey there. I wanted to let you know that your post has been driving me up the freaking wall. Why? Because I recognize the tune but for the life of me I cannot name it. I spent about half an hour last night going through tracks of Mozart’s Requiem and Beethoven but could not find a match. I figured if I sat on it over a day and tried again today it would come to me but no such luck. I will figure this out but it may take some time….
