I stubled across this beautiful piece of poetry set to animation: Dance Monkeys Dance and have been delighted by it since. Once you have enjoyed it please visit Ernie Cline’s Spoken Word page (the author and reader) and listen to the other rants. They are airwolf!
I assume that by now you have all downloaded and wasted many hours playing with Google Earth (What, you haven’t? What the hell are you waiting for an invitation? Well you are invited, now go!) but have you seen Google Moon? Check it, and oh yeah don’t forget to zoom in for detail on the landing sites
I had heard fellow sybarites praise Farm Café before so when we needed a good place for a late night dinner to discuss the movie we had just seen we decided to head over to Farm. What a wonderful dining experience! The restaurant is setup in a homey feeling adapted house and has a friendly staff and great food.
The first impression was a negative one. We stood by the door for a good few minutes with waiters and waitresses walking past us and no acknowledgement of our presence before a hostess took my name and told me it might be a little while. Waiting did not matter much, partially because at 10pm we figured the wait would likely be short and mostly because it was a lovely spot to be on a warm summer night. The menu had plenty of appetizing options as well as a wide selection of house concoctions. The clientele was a bit humorous with it’s overabundance of retro counterculture clothes and hairdos but they, like us, seemed to be there for good food and a good time.
The three of us ordered cheese stuffed ravioli with a spicy crushed pepper sauce, the veggie burger (made with eggplant) and the roasted tofu with mushroom marsala sauce. All dishes were well prepared with quality ingredients and quite delicious. My roasted tofu was mild enough to not tire out on the sauce yet delicious and engaging. The ravioli were huge (three of them filled the plate) and had a sauce that was spicy enough to excite the palette without offending. The veggie burger was probably the winner of the bunch with a complex construct of tastes and textures that made you want to take another bite before the first was done. We accompanied the dinner with local microbrews and a mixed drink and followed it with a chocolate soufflé with coffee ice-cream. The soufflé took a good while to materialize (I would have been worried had it been otherwise) and had a good balance of richness and lightness. Coffee ice-cream could easily have been overpowering but was mild enough to provide the right degree of flavor. I recommend Farm Café to anyone looking for quality local ingredients properly treated. If you go, look for me there, I quite intend on returning for more.
I think my score on the Geek Test has gone down a bit over the years. I am currently at 50.4931% geek (that is 32 in Hex for you true geeks out there). How about you?
I am in Veneta, Oregon here to camp out for the weekend and visit the Oregon Country Fair. What is that you say you have never heard of Veneta before? Well neither had I until I got the instructions on how to get to the fair. Veneta is west of Eugene for you locals and out in the middle of nowhere for the rest of you. So what the F am I doing posting to my blog all the way out here? Yup, you guessed it, even out in BFE you can still troll for unprotected WiFi. God I love the age of the Internet… sniff, sniff.. OK, I should put the laptop away now before the hippies notice and out me… du-du-du, nothing to see here.. nope, no technogeeks in your midsts..

Warning! Warning! Eminent Drive Failure!
Those are three words you really don’t want to see come up on your server. While trying to recover from a mangled dselect configuration I was forced to reboot the server that hosts GeelRoar.com and PWASOH.com after 212 days of uptime. During boot the server complained about hard drive damage and directed me to conduct an fsck. The data drive seems to be healthy but the system drive complained of a lot of unrecoverable errors and on reboot gave me that sickening little sentence ‘the system has detected eminent drive failure’. What to do? As I see it I have four options:

In case you have not yet taken the time to visit the Flickr Postcard Browser go take a gander. Just feed it some keyword and see what you get. It is kind of like a Google Image search but with a much better interface and more interesting results.
Here is a throwback for the Atari generation (for you yung-uns that would be us old dinos that came before you Nintendo Generation kids). Listen to the game effect and name that game. I got 15 out of 18… not bad.
