Van Helsing Pictures and Trailer
[Movie News]A trailer for the upcoming movie Van Helsing (2004) has been posted on Apple's web site and it looks impressive. Keeping with the style of the web site the movie has a very rich look. I am a bit surprised with how much of the movie they show in the trailer, but it did provide a lot of material for screen captures. For a full gallery of Van Helsing pictures go to:
Geekroar.com Gallery :: Van Helsing Pictures
Select images captured from the trailer are below:

Yeah, but it's another Beckinsdale movie, so what are the chances it's any good.
Posted by: Nick on January 21, 2004 03:26 PMAt least Hugh Jackman is capable of compensating for any deficiencies Beckinsale might display here, and quite often a lesser actor is shown to better effect in the presence of a more powerful actor, so let's hope this is the case. I would hate to see something as cool-looking as Van Helsing go to waste just because of one casting mistake.
Posted by: heathcliffe on February 1, 2004 04:12 PMThis movie could give underworld a run for the money. I'm hoping the star of X-Men can resurrect the passion for horrors.
Posted by: Tommy on February 1, 2004 08:15 PMWe've been needing a good wolf-man movie for some time. The vampire scene is a bore. Who better to fill the spot than the Clint Eastwood look alike?
Posted by: Danny on February 1, 2004 08:18 PMI'll go see it.
Posted by: Nathan on February 1, 2004 08:20 PMI hope my fiance takes me to see this movie. He got excited when the superbowl trailer came on.
Posted by: Sarah on February 1, 2004 08:23 PMI think reviving the old Universal Studio monsters is great. It's a neat update and it looks fun. Let's just hope they stick to the basics and don't make this into something modern (aka crap). It's kind of like that 80s movie, Monster Squad (which kicked ass). I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Posted by: mike on February 2, 2004 09:59 AMas a future special effects artist im not impressed with these werewolves judging by the pictures on this site. And since underworlds werewolves were sooooo good, i thought that it could only get better but that doesnt seem to be the case with this movie. they have returned to cgi full throttle. Sad, very sad.
Not to say that cgi isnt good, just not this time. In fact, i did enjoy the cgi werewolves in an american werewolf in paris. They werent perfect but they were pretty good.
I have added eight more pictures from Van Helsing at: Film Roar: More Van Helsing Pictures and Geekroar.com Gallery :: Van Helsing Pictures.
Posted by: Leopoldo on February 3, 2004 08:33 AMkate beckinsale is hot, and kiks some ass.Im not a fan of hugh but he did do a good job in x-men.Van helsing the movie will be awesome.....and thats bout all i have to say
Posted by: sam on February 4, 2004 02:37 PMTrailer looks great! many interesting characters and beautiful DOP... and Kate looks stunningly SEXY yet again :) :)
... and Sarafeen (posted February 2nd) ... you'll find that CGI graphics with 'hair' are still not cutting it the real world. Theyre getting close, but just don't look like real hair yet (my opinion of course)...
Did you see 'Dog Soldiers' ? They had the special fx dude chatting about this subject. I still believe that doggy hair (on CGI) has a long way to go before it starts producing the real thing. Anyway, its all good ... :)
Posted by: Raining on February 5, 2004 03:13 PMok when i first saw this preview at the movies i was absolutley amazed one reason is because for you that dont know there is a anime out called HellSing this is the best anime ever i believe
Hellsing is about a orginazation called well... Hellsing Orginazation which has a search and destroy mission against the undead and is to protect the mortal world. but now artificially spawned vampires have appeared and has forced HellSing to call in the ultimate weapon the rogue vampire Alucard A.K.A. Arucard....(read on for info about ALUCARD
ok people Alucard is the true immortal vampire he was captured somehow by the hellsing orginazation and was then locked in a cell for 20 years till Integra the daughter of the Hellsing Organizations leader is put in charge because her father dies and his brother is outraged about her being in charged and wants her for dead before the angel of death A.K.A. Walter returns from a business trip for he is the sworn protector of the hellsing organization well knowing that he is do back soon they search the manchine for integra and find her in the forgotten barracks of the manchine why is she there.... heh her father told her "if there is a absolute threat to u and this organization go to the forgotten barracks and there lies ur answer" there she finds the cell of Alucard she is forced to go into it because of her uncle shooting at her . She is hit and her blood splatters on the floor next to Alucard as the uncle has no idea to he Alucard is he ignores him and is happy she will have someone to take her to see her father (in heaven). seconds before her uncle is about to kill her Alucard is licking the blood of the ground and is oh boy enjoying it just that little blood gives him enormous amounts of strength back and he ends up killing everyone except Integra. as he forces Integra into the wall he tell her " ur blood is the first i have tasted in 20 silent years " well Integra is surprised to see that her father had a vampire locked up for an occassion like this is is not going to back down for she swore a vaal to protect the hellsing organization after realizaing who she really was Alucard kneels to her and says "ur orders....... master" since then they have grown up together eliminating those who threaten the immortal race and those that threaten them . which is artificial , real vampires and army's of the undead .(Although Alucard is a vampire he survives by drinking cloned blood like there capri-suns "thats great stuff")
some things yall should know he has a God that he has inherited his powers from and near the end of al this he fights a undead creature named incognito which is a undead monster and is also the inheritance of a ancient god (great A$$ battle scene) Alucard Backwards is... Dracula after eading up a bit i come to find out that Alucard is the Son of Dracula
althogh i do not know the name of there god and what he is capable of and find it awkward that there is an organization called hellsing for which he serves and i was just thinking that van helsing may be the god of Alucard ... not sure.... but yeah i meant to write a little but look what happned ...oops hehe
well yea i look forward to UNDERWORLD 2 and Van Helsing i hoping he has something to do with Alucard oh yea Kate is the hottest Vampire EVER!!!!!
Before i go i love vampires and i wish i was one .. i also got the contacts like the ones of the Underworld movie and plan on having fake canine teeth put in to make me look like i have fangs ... Also i belive vampires are real may sound childish but just read up on it people why would ther be ancients books written about them and yet still today we cannot get over them .. also look up a author named anita blake she writes novels about vampires and so what there all great thanks peace
Posted by: josh on February 5, 2004 08:51 PMi can't wait.looks good.hopefully it's better than the mummy[god]plus..who doesnt love monster movies?
Posted by: droogie on February 24, 2004 09:59 AMActually, I think Van Helsing is the guy who ends up capturing or is a descendent of the guy who captures Alucard. I think there was first a book about Van Helsing that might shed some light on the subject, but again, it's only internet speculation.
I haven't seen or read any substantial information on either book, manga, or anime, but I do have in my posession (Somewhere in this house) a dvd of the first three Hellsing episodes. I don't know if it will shed much light on the subject. I think to really find out I'll have to see the whole Hellsing series (15 episodes, not a challenge), watch Van Helsing, and read the book (if there is one).
Posted by: andrew on March 1, 2004 05:47 PMJosh... seek mental help...

While I did find some of the Anita Blake novels entertaining and interesting, nothing there convinces me that vampires are a reality. Also, the books are ABOUT Anita Blake, I don't recall the author's actual name.
Seems like someone's watched a little bit too much Buffy.
Posted by: andrew on March 1, 2004 05:51 PMVan Helsing has nothing to do with the hellsing anime except for the name. Van Helsing was the name of the vampire hunter in the Dracula novels who also shows up in some of the dracula and/or werewolf movies.
Posted by: xdeathknightx on March 2, 2004 06:56 AMvan helsing, other version the game castlevania!!!!!???????
Posted by: paulino on March 11, 2004 11:41 AMwhen is the release date for this movie?
Posted by: Tabitha on March 22, 2004 06:01 PMAccording to Dark Horizons: Van Helsing (2004) the movie is due for a May 7th release.
Posted by: Leopoldo on March 22, 2004 06:17 PMwho is sarafeen. well whoever they are if they come back tell that person he's a dumbass. A future special effects man. I dout that you and your special could not even kick a babies ass.
Posted by: Vaughn on March 28, 2004 03:32 AMVan Helsing looks sooo phenominal, i mean look at the wolf-man,sure the werewolves in Underworld were very cool, but how many times have you sceen werewolves without fur? Take a look at the difference, pritty big. Besides this actually looks like a wolf...
It's way cool that they are bringing back all the old horror classics. Awsome Job!
Posted by: Shadow on April 9, 2004 08:24 PMThe trailer looks great - I love these sort of movies!
I've been reading a few of the comments and I wish some of these guy's would 'get a life'. Jackman and Beckinsale look fab - anyhow these type of movies (blockbusters)will never make it to the oscars!
Just grow up guys and enjoy the movie for what it is - a rollercoaster ride of excitement and fun, not one fror the trainspotters' or 'anorak's'!!
I love van helsing
i'm really into vampyre stuff and movies so I loved it, the graphics were amazing :)
I thought Anna and Draclua were my fav
I met Hugh Jackman at a NYC signing. He said that from what he's seen so far, it's coming along well. I was also pleased to see that during last week's CSI on NBC, David Wenham got a spot on the trailer.
Posted by: SooJin on April 19, 2004 12:46 PMomg loved every min of it.Kept me in my chair the whole movie trough i am def. gonna see it again and again and again ps.dracula was hot so were his brides
Posted by: debz on May 6, 2004 04:04 AMI had a chance to see Van Helsing at an advanced screening and just posted my review for the movie. I am sorry to say that the movie is little more than a summer action flick but did have a lot of fun at it. You can read the full review at Film Roar: Van Helsing (2004)
Posted by: Leopoldo on May 6, 2004 05:29 PMIt was awsome. Hugh Jackaman and Richard Roxburgh are so hot. It was totally worth watching until 3 in the morning!
Posted by: Mayhet on May 7, 2004 01:15 PMI thaught "Van Helsing" was one of the best movies Ive seen in a very long time, I hope that more people make movies like that because they are so cool. I especially liked the werewolves.
Posted by: stacey Gerber on May 8, 2004 10:10 AMI loved it! Dracula was pretty hot if I do say so. Kate what Beautiful and Hugh was cute. LOL
Posted by: Fairwig on May 8, 2004 11:01 PMI happened to catch the film on "Opening Night", which, of course, was quite speical for me. That's beside the fact, however. I came to share with you my thoughts. I am 110% obsessed with this movie -- I absolutely LOVE it! Hugh Jackman's performance as the young, trim, fit and "jacked" Gabriel Van Helsing was off-the-charts. Cate's performance as Anna was spectacular, as well. I was fully enthralled with the interaction between Hugh and Richard (Van and Dracula), that was truely something to see -- It is also quite rare where two awesome personalities can mesh so well either on-screen or on-stage. (Trust me, I'm a thespian, I know). In full, I give the movie ***** stars -- If there were more I would give it, I certainly would. This was (by far) the GREATEST movie of 2004 -- no, no, of my lifetime...almost 17 years of movies, people.
With that, I'll leave you with this last bit of information for you...
JUST WAIT UNTIL "DAWN OF VAN HELSING" -- The prequel which will surely expalin the former-friendship of Dracula and Van Helsing some 450 years before Van Helsing first slayed Dracula originally. Be sure to check that one out when the trailers start being shown on network television. Remember...you heard it from ME first!
Best Wishes + Bless You,
- Dr. Gabriel Van Helsing
BTW-Anita Blake is a blundering fool for freaking out about the whole werewolf change thing...I stopped reading after that. Hellsing's awesome with Alucard and all.
But "Van Helsing" was rather yummy! *meow meow purrrr* =^..^= Hugh Jackman was a rather awesome Van Helsing (too bad Van Helsing didn't have the adamantium claws...heehee)! The werewolves were rather well done compared to most werewolf movies, especially Van Helsing's form.
I rather much enjoyed this version of Dracula too. He was much more charming and attractive (even if he's a bit older looking than I'd prefer with me in my early 20s)...it's harder to resist evil when it's got a handsome face! ;) He also didn't fully underestimate his competition...it helps.
Also the castles were awesome looking! I want one...even with a resident vampire Count.
WAUWIEE!!! I just looove this movie!! It's one of the best movies I've ever seen! I just can feel the Fanfeeling inside the movie... '-^
Ps: I just can't wait till the next movie > Van Helsing 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Werewolf on May 10, 2004 10:19 AMIt takes extra effort to make a movie this bad. The plot is a bastardized rip-off of every other monster movie out there. Nothing in this movie is original. Everything, including the terrible slavic accents, was borrowed, stolen, or otherwise grave-robbed from somewhere else. The assembled corpse of a movie is as lifeless and unoriginal as a crusty cold cadaver. Sure the CGI is cool, sure the scenery is gorgeous, the sets are breath-taking, and the colors are surreal. But that's true with most action/adventure/sf movies out there. Movies are for entertaining, and if you think this was an entertaining movie, that's cool. But think about this:
Over-simplified, dialogue-sparse, plot-vacant, character-thin movies like Van Helsing are thrown together with little thought to content mainly to sucker local audiences (like me and probably you) who love monster flicks, because they know we'll fork over $8 to see any high-budget adventure movie with a cool trailer. But they also make movies like this to be easily translated and viewed abroad for bigger bucks. Many American movies recently are made with skeletal plot and dialogue to make translation easy, so movie companies can make their real money from foreign box offices. As time goes on, movies are just going to get thinner and thinner and thinner, and they're only going to seem meaty because of clever CGI work.
Where's the meat?
Posted by: slappy on May 10, 2004 09:57 PMHello im name is Sarah and i think this movie is the greatest movie ever made bring more movies like that out please
bye
Posted by: Sarah on May 11, 2004 02:51 AMI dont normally care about movies but let me tell you this just struck a cord in me and i LOVE this movie!!Id seriously bootleg this movie if i could:)The action and effects were just great and the story still leaves you guessing:)
Posted by: Jehnnh on May 13, 2004 10:52 PMVan Helsing -sucked.- The only good things were the bride and werewolf transformations...and the creatures themselves after the trasnformation process. Everything else -SUCKED.-
Posted by: Seiraryu on May 14, 2004 06:57 PMOMG I LOVE VAN HELSING! It was a realy good movie. it rockked and it had a good plot. and that guy who wished he was a vampire.....okaayyyy to you. hun u need to seek professional health
Posted by: Jeanie on May 19, 2004 06:05 AMI thought the film was great, apart from the fact kate isn't a very good actress. What's up with the dodgy accent? Hugh Jackman was brill, although there were a few simialarities between Helsing and Wolverine. Overall, the movie was fab. Dracula was hot and the brides pulled off the whole vampire weeping and wailing thing.A very good vampire movie and the wolfman was terrific. Conclusion - Kate should give vampire movies cause she was bad in Underworld (but hey,. that was just a bad movie) and not much better in this one. However, I did enjoy the weapons used in the film. Well done Steven sommers for getting most of your vampire facts right!
Posted by: Suzi Marishka on May 20, 2004 04:11 AM"Van Helsing was a wonderful movie. I may be only 15, but hugh Jackman is great as Logan and Van. I fell in love with him in x-men1, but Van Helsing takes the cake!"
Posted by: Alyssa on May 21, 2004 08:10 AMThis movie like so ROX! I like the details in the movie and how graphic it is. The werewolves in it were awsome!! Im normaly a vampire person but these werewolves in the movie totally changed my mind. They look so Cute!(dont mind me im a weird person...lol) I have to say once again...this movie ROZ!!!
Posted by: Lex on May 21, 2004 10:03 PMjust saw van helsing and it was great. hugh jackman and kate beckinsale were great.
to those who are bagging beckinsale, i dont know why she portayed her role fantastically.
Posted by: Kat on May 25, 2004 12:01 AMPersonaly I loved the movie. Ya some of the acting was weak, the begginging was good for the first two minutes and anna and valcons opening parts were awsome. The Ending you would have to admit was REALLY weak.
Posted by: Mere Van Helsing on May 25, 2004 06:53 AMHugh Jackman is such a hunk!
Posted by: Claudia on May 25, 2004 09:51 AMOmg Van Helsing is the best vampire/Werewolf, well actually monster movie in the world that i have seen ever!!!!!! Hugh Jackman was sexy and Dracula was hott and yea all the cast gave an excellent performance. Heck after seeing this movie i wouldnt mind gettin bitten by a vampire. Especially Dracula heck yea!
Posted by: Savy on May 25, 2004 01:25 PMRichard Roxburgh played an excellent vampire; he was so different from the ordinary. He was funny, intimidating, and scary all at the same time. His hair was the best! :-)
Posted by: Sharon on May 25, 2004 03:12 PMVan Helsing was one of the best moves that i have ever seen and if you havent seen it i sugest that you should go see it ... , it was grate >.
Posted by: Sherbert363 on May 26, 2004 04:29 PMI dont see the movie for now because i am from Romania but i see some secvences and i like it i can wait to see the movie....after my opinion i s a good movie.....HOPE TO SEE IT SOON>>
Posted by: Loto on May 26, 2004 10:52 PMAnita Blake is not an author, she's a CHARACTER. Laurell K. Hamilton is the author. True Anita fanatics would be angry over this. Or at least slightly indignant.
Posted by: Alex on May 27, 2004 01:15 PMvan helsing is one of the best films ive ever seen
better then the other vampire films ive seen
The is the same as Wonderworld, there is only a little thst has change.Underworld has come first where anyone could think that Van Helsing is the imitation fo underworld.
Posted by: Jon on June 3, 2004 10:37 AMFirst of all, i believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
That said i must say i truly loved this movie. I'm a big fan of fantasy movies so anything with vampires, werewolves etc catches my interest.
I was doubtful at first about whether Van Helsing would be a good movie or not, but after the first few minutes i was hooked.
Kate Beckingsale was alright, Hugh Jackman and David Wenham were great and Richard Roxburgh...what can i say? There was just something about him as Count Dracula that really caught my attention. Loved the way he and Van Helsing interacted, heck, i just loved him!
This was one of the best films i have seen.
The silver werewolf in the above pic was the first werewolf. The Velkan werewolf is a different brownish color and younger. My preference is for the big, dark gray & black Van Helsing werewolf. I enjoyed this movie so much, I've seen it 25 times...ticket stubs and all. I do think that someone should reign in Stephen Sommers, though. This film needed more editing and more plot cohesiveness. Bigger is not always better. However...I enjoy this movie more than I've enjoyed a movie in many years. And, I don't go to the movies often. All in all, I'd say it's a good, fun movie.
Posted by: Sue on July 1, 2004 02:11 PMThis is the best movie in the world, ever Hugh Jackman totally rules! I would give it.....
100 / 10! Anyone who doesnt can't respect great actors and the best movie ever. The film has absolutely no connection with the anime, though but I couldnt really care less because I don't watch Hellsing.
I've now seen Van Helsing 48 times. I have 45 ticket stubs. Enjoy it immensely. I've never heard of Hellsing, and it would not interest me at all.
Posted by: Sue on August 8, 2004 05:20 PMItheink that Van Helsing is the best movie ever made about dracula and i think that the dracula and van helsing are the best at acting the part and no film can be better than this.van helsing is my favourite film and i cry at it all the time and hugh jackman is gorgeous and so is dracula he is nice and kate beckinsale is lovely .i just love this film alot i went to the cinema to see it 13 times.
Posted by: amy campbell on September 5, 2004 03:53 AMBlegh, don't see why you wouldn't. Actually this movie was good. Though a bit disappointed with the way it screwed up Vlad's background. Maybe Gabriel's as well too. I dunno, maybe they want his to be a bit too mysterious and what not. Yet he had no excuse of doing Vlad's history in like that. Thats the only problem I had with it. Other than that, thumbs up. Go on my merry way. However, I would just like to add another thing. I'm a big time Hellsing fan as well. For correction notes. Arucard isn't the son of Dracula. He is Dracula himself. Abraham ended up whoopin' him down to noble pet, when he went for Mina Harker. If you know what I mean. Bwahaha ! -.- I'm sleep 'tarded.
Posted by: No_Life_King on September 23, 2004 08:40 PMhelp does anyone know where to get the contacts that Kate bekinsale wore in Underworld i need them asap.
Posted by: Michelle on September 30, 2004 01:27 PMvan helsing is the best movie.i was a total lord of the rings freak but now i am crazy about van helsing. the actors and actresses a great. the movie makes you hang on to youre chair and if i had a choice to choose a score i would give 5 stars out of 5
Posted by: kiara o'connell on September 30, 2004 04:37 PMITS ME AGAIN, JUST WANT TO REMIND YA THAT U HAVE GOTTA SEE THIS MOVIE IT IS THE BEST.I BELIEVE THAT HUGH JACKMAN AND KATE BECKINSALE ARE THE BEST ACTRESS AND ACTOR IN THE WORLD AND I WOULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED TO SEE THEM IN THIS MOVIE. I USED TO LIKE ORLANDO BLOOMS AND KIRA KNIGHTLY BUT NOW HUGH JACKMAN AND KATE BECKINSALE HAVE TAKEN OVER AND THEY ROCK!!.
Posted by: KIARA O'CONNELL on October 2, 2004 04:33 PMi think the werewolves in van helsing were the best cgi werewolves i have ever seen! definately better then the ones in ameriican werewolf in paris! plus i like the way they look theyre not like the original wolf man (the yak man)
they look alot more like wolves and i think that was the biggest part of the movie for me when huge jackman turned into the werewolf!
i was already a fan of his sinse x-men.
any way just wanted to comment.
The werewolves look AWESOME in this movie. (I'm a vampire fan, but whatever...) Not like that Harry Potter crap. (What the bloody hell WAS that?) I like that they brought back some of the classic monsters. And now, (as if you didn't know it was coming) time for me to say....Dracula looks HOT!!! O_o Sorry...I'll go now.
Posted by: Spooky on November 1, 2004 05:51 PMHugh Jackman is so sexy, he made an even sexier werewolf ^_^ and Kate Beckinsale was gorgeous. The special effects for Van Helsing were unbelievably intricate and spectacular. Van Helsing pulls you into the movie like you were actually there and the scenery for the movie was stunning. Van Helsing is one of my top 10 movies and theres only one other movie that joins it... Underworld is the other. In closing I hope that everyone enjoyed the movie as much as i did.
Posted by: Luna on November 6, 2004 12:28 AMVan Helsing i say was better than all LOFTR combined I jast bought it today and am planning to watch it a million times.(Hugh Jackman is freaking hot!!!!!!)

Posted by: Nicky on January 25, 2005 01:43 PMOMG! Van Helsing was so good! I loved the interactions between Dracula and Van Helsing (who were both so hott...dracula's bad side is sexy) and the acting was pretty good. Ending surprised me a bit...And is that thing about the Dawn of Van Helsing true? Cuz if there is another movie coming out, HALLELUIA! anyway...dracula was hott...
Posted by: Jennifer on February 14, 2005 08:05 PMwhy in the end Anna died!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
