TNG: The Dauphin

[Trek Talk]

Dear god Jaime Hubbard is cute. Too bad our boy Wesley will will not get any until season 4. And the plot? Oh, aside from some Original Series looking monsters I thought it was pretty good.

Oh the plot is definitly secondary to the wonder of young love, yes...

Nice to hear someone who isn't complaining about the monsters (although they *were* awful)...

Why do I get the feeling there's something miss dyingofluv isn't saying?
And hey Leopoldo, aren't you going to review The Measure Of A Man?

Posted by: elephant's child on September 6, 2003 06:09 PM

You know, that is a very good question. The Measure of a Man is a wonderful episode, I thought I had written a review of it, but apparently not. I will write one up and post it :-)

'The Dauphin' isn't exactly the most scintillating TNG episode ever, although among the many greats of second season it can't really help paling. The plot is interesting though not arresting, and the shudder-worthy costumes and monsters nearly derailed what is essentially a very decent effort. Jamie Hubbard, as the alien 'princess,' did a good job (and was of course radiant while at it) but Wil Wheaton's acting basically carried this one.

Sigh...I assume this is in reference to The Game. FYI, The Game was season five, not four. And Leopoldo really should know better that to question the state of Wesley's virginity. I mean, seriously. Can't people see that Wesley just doesn't have it in him to act like that? We don't credit utterly aberrant behaviour on the part of a character, we simply chalk it up to the stupidity of the writers. The 'in-universe' explanation for such laughably uncharacteristic behaviour is this: it doesn't actually exist.
Isn't there anyone out there who agrees with me on this?

Withal due respect, Diane, you really oughta get a life... What do you do, spend six hours a day obssessing about Wesley's virginity? Its not *that* important!!

OK, this goes to Diane and dyingofluv. It is fine if you guys want to disagree and argue each other, but I will not tolerate flames on Geekroar.com. That means if you have something to say, say it in a constructive way. No calling each other names, or making any personal attacks. If either of you steps out of line I will ban you from the site.

I like appreciate the comments on the posts and hope you both continue to contribute, but you will not be allowed to do so if you cannot be civil.

Oops...sorry. 'I'll do better.'

Posted by: Diean Gibson on September 16, 2003 11:31 AM

Leopoldo, I apologize ... i didn't realize it but I was getting pretty close to that line. You're right, I dont have any right to do that (at least on in public) and it was wrong. Sorry.

Although, I will add, i think Diane and I took it less seriously than you did - it was more like a discussion. I dunno, I can only speak for myself.

Posted by: dyingofluv on September 17, 2003 09:34 AM

How can you ban somebody, anyway?

Posted by: dyingofluv on September 17, 2003 09:34 AM

Thank you both. And yes, I do have a low tolerance for flames.

As for banning, when you post a comment you get to type in the name and address you want to display. In addition I can see where you log in from. My logs show what networks people come in from and I can use that information to ban a specific location from viewing the site.
