TNG: Hide and Q
[Trek Talk]
The memorable moment from the episode TNG: Hide And Q will not fully make sense until later in the series. Riker, imbued with Q like powers, tries to grant the innermost wishes of each of the crewmembers. For Worf he fabricates a female Klingon who crawls and growls at Worf bearing her teeth in what looks like an attack pose. I was reminded of this moment during a second season episode called The Dauphin when Wesley asks crew members for love advice. Worf replies:
"Men do not roar; women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at
you. [Men] read love poetry... [and] duck a lot."
As a big fan of the episode 'The Dauphin' and as someone who quotes a lot, it's a pleasure to finally hear those lines quoted properly for once. I salute you!

Posted by: Diane Gibson on July 21, 2003 07:47 PMUgh, the memorable moment in this one is when it finally ends and i jump up and cheer. No seriously, what a dud!! And Q typically livens up the crew a little. So much for that. THe only redeeming scene is the Shakespeare scene between Picard and Q, where its so satisfying to see Picard at last get under Q's skin. I have no idea why they had to include that splattery stabbing scene (someone's personal animosity against Wil Wheaton, perhaps?), or find it necessary to dress apes in period costume.
Oh, and John de lancie? He makes the most bilious-looking android you've ever seen.
Posted by: dyingofluv on September 4, 2003 10:27 AMOr maybe someone's personal animosity against Wesley!
Seriously, though, this one was a clinker. Pretty much the only good parts in this was the aforementioned scene where Picard zings Q with Shakespeare, and the part at the very end where everything (and everyone) is back to normal and we can go on to a better episode.
Or *any* episode...
Posted by: dyingofluv on September 5, 2003 04:59 PMOh, I suppose you'd rather watch another clinker...like Night Terrors or something...
Posted by: Diane Gibson on September 9, 2003 10:12 AMwhose idea was this episode, anyway?
Posted by: bobbi chase on September 9, 2003 11:46 AMdruther watch Phantasms than this one.
Posted by: dyingofluv on September 15, 2003 07:40 AMIsn't that the one with Troi the cake? My sister wants to see that one.
Posted by: Diane Gibson on September 16, 2003 02:20 PMYup, Phantasms is season seven and has the polypeptide Troi cake. Defenetly need to review that one when we get to season seven.
Posted by: Leopoldo on September 16, 2003 08:43 PMEven though I have seen the Troi cake, I still do not understand how they can make it look like both Troi and a cake at the same time. It is so weird.
