TNG: Season 1 skirt uniforms
[Trek Talk]The uniforms worn in the Star Trek TNG series changed a few times. In keeping with the original Star Trek series the first few episodes of season 1 show crew walking around wearing skirt style uniforms. Two things stand out during the first few episodes of the first series that unfortunately disappeared pretty quickly: men wearing skirts and ensign redhead. The male crew members in skirt style uniforms was a wonderful departure from the norm and one that showed TNG had the guts to be innovative. Unfortunately the skirt uniforms random crew walking around in the background disappeared after just a couple of episodes. Even more unfortunate was the disappearance of one particular extra that could be seen in the background for just a few of the original episodes. She was gorgeous and had this long red hair that gave a great contrast to the stale future environment of the Enterprise. I wish I could find a picture of her to share, some people remember her, and some do not. Among my friends she was always known as 'ensign redhead'.
Posted by Leopoldo at June 25, 2003 11:32 AM | TrackBackWhile watching When The Bough Breaks, I happened to notice a redheaded female crewmember. Is this ensign redhead?
Posted by: aurealis on July 14, 2003 01:32 PMI am pretty sure that by the time When the Bough Breaks aired, ensign redhead was no longer haunting the hallways of the Enterprise. This episode did, however, have the enchanting actress Brenda Strong in it, best known probably for playing Capt Deladier in Starship Troopers:

This one was wierd to watch because I've seen the guy who played Radu so many other times.
Posted by: dyingofluv on September 4, 2003 10:36 AMI saw the guy who plays Radue (his name is Jerry Hardin) in a film called Little Nikita, which also starred River Phoenix, who in turn ws in Stand By Me with none other than Wil Wheaton.

Posted by: dyingofluv on September 5, 2003 05:02 PMTo which movie are you referring to, Stand By Me or Little Nikita?

Posted by: dyingofluv on September 15, 2003 07:42 AMTo the best of my knowledge, it was released in 1988, but I think it was actually filmed before then. I do not know when it ws filmed..maybe Leopoldo knows.
Posted by: Diane Gibson on September 16, 2003 02:26 PMI know of Little Nikita but have not seen it. I just looked on the IMDB to say if they give a production date, but they just list the release date of '88. Many movies are shot and held for a while before being released (like Film Roar: Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) which was ready for release in 2001 but held for two years) so it could defenetly have been finished earlier.
Posted by: Leopoldo on September 16, 2003 08:40 PMI've seen Little Nikita and Running On Empty, both of which were released in '88, and while I too don't have any concrete information I can tell you that River Phoenix is definitely younger in Nikita, though not by a whole lot.
Posted by: heathcliffe on September 17, 2003 09:54 AMI finally got the images I was looking for. Look for ensign redhead at:
Film Roar: TNG: Ensign Redhead is found!
