Matrix Discussion Slogs Geekroar
[Film Discussion]On May 21st I posted a quote from a Reuters article explaining why the Tank Character did not appear in the Matrix sequels:
http://www.geekroar.com/film/archives/000249.php
I followed it up with a copy of the transcript of the discussion between Neo and the Architect from Matrix Reloaded:
http://www.geekroar.com/film/archives/000250.php
And then with a link to insight into the Matrix Story line provided by Dark Horizons:
http://www.geekroar.com/film/archives/000256.php
I was hoping people would find the articles useful as I did in understanding the story line being revealed in the trilogy and was hoping people would be inclined to post their own thoughts and theories. I was quite unprepared for the actual results:
Google's crawlers found the posts and scored them high enough that if you now execute a web search for the string Matrix Reloaded Architect Geekroar.com shows as link #2 of 2,460.
The string Matrix Reloaded Discussion puts Geekroar.com as link #3 of 38,200.
And Matrix Reloaded Theory has Geekroar.com as link #1 of 28,700.
Though if you follow the google links you will find the search engine is not smart enough to tell the difference between the root article pages and the page used to submit new comments.
Since the Architect transcript was posted on Wednesday afternoon the site has seen over 10,000 visits, mostly from visitors finding the Matrix articles though the Star Ship Troopers 2 and Underworld Movie and Trailer posts also continue to attract visitors.
Visitors have made use of the comment feature of the blog to discuss theories on the movies. As of this morning the Matrix Reloaded Theory post has had 55 comments posted to it and the Architect Transcript an astounding 238 comments. Some have noted that it has taken them as much as three hours to pour over the posts so far and some are returning to the site a day or two after their initial visit to catch up on the latest discussion. I admit that I have not taken the time to toughly read all the comments being posted, but I do at least take a quick look at each one to see what topics are being brought up and to ensure people are staying civil (I have had to delete two posts so far because they were abusive and did not contribute). I am delighted with the discussion that has emerged and the way people have managed to work with each other's ideas. I know I wanted to talk to people about 'what was going on' after seeing the movie and am quite glad Geekroar.com has offered a chance for others to do so.
One problem that has emerged is that (as you may have noticed) the www.geekroar.com (and www.pwasoh.com which runs from the same server) domain has become very sluggish. Geekroar.com, you see, is run from a dedicated server in my house over a standard DSL line. My DSL is rated at up to 256 kilobits per second upstream and 256 kilobits downstream but since I am on the very edge of DSL range I tend to get speeds closer to 128 kbs. With the Architect page now over 350K worth of comments and multiple hits on the page at any given time, both my home assembled Athlon server and my home connection are being taxed. Browsing the web from home and remote connections to my server have become rather sluggish these last few days.
A second problem is the readability of the pages. With 238 comments on one thread and 55 the other it takes a long time for the page to load and even longer to read through the posts. I have received requests to break the page up into multiple smaller pages, and requests to leave it as is. I believe the best thing to do is to leave the page in it's current format so people who are new can see the evolution of the discussion and those who are coming back can pick up where they left off. Movable Type, while awesome for blogging, was never really meant as a chat board. To reorganize the posts into threads on Geekroar.com would take a very long amount of time. As a better solution, one of the readers has set up a dedicated Matrix Reloaded discussion forum. With open access to all, categories for most discussion topic and the ability to break into discussion threads, it is a great site to continue the discussion.
Whatever brought you to Geekroar.com today, I hope you enjoy the site and all it's content. If you have any thoughts, comments or opinions on the site I invite you to add them to one of the posts. If you are so inclined I also gladly accept donations towards the server/DSL fund:
Thank you Leopoldo!
I hope our matrixreloaded discussion server at homenetz.com/matrixreloaded
will not be overwhelmed so fast. I think it is built for 25 Gigabytes of traffic a month, but I did never really test that.
Everybody is invited to discuss Marix Reloaded. You may register but you can post as guest also. Plus: posts/threads in German language are also permitted

Posted by: tabit on May 28, 2003 04:20 AMI just added a transcript of the Niobe and Oracle discussion from the Enter the Matrix video game.
Posted by: Leopoldo on May 28, 2003 03:02 PMWhat if Neo is the only human? This would explain alot. It would explain the fact that only he manipulates the world outside the Matrix. Here are my other hypotheses:
1. Neo is actually, in reality, a solitary Mr. Anderson outside the Matrix->Matrix-> oo (infinity). Maybe its all just turtles like Hawking says.
2. Mr Anderson is sitting at his desk somewhere working on his assignment - developing the Matrix.
3. Maybe in some wierd TRON sort of way, he gets pulled into his creation and now is trying to find a way out.
4. If Trinity is a human, she is holding her husband's hand as he wakes up out of his coma.
5. Neo is actually the grown up version of the autistic St Elsewhere boy who now dyed his hair black and is still looking at his snowglobe...
Im going to go rent the 13th Floor again.
Posted by: Dr Strangelove on May 29, 2003 02:24 PMwhat if the entire thing that they thought was reality was really the matrix or something close. just making the humans think that they can win.

Posted by: anderson on June 6, 2003 08:25 AMIt took me a while to get around to writing a review of The Matrix Reloaded, but it is now ready and posted at

Here is the synopsis: It was fun and I will wait until November to find out what is 'really going on'.

Reloaded may not have had the intricately spun storyline of the first film, but it certainly poses metaphysical conundrums which are just as deep........................................
Posted by: jyotirmaya on July 29, 2003 10:40 AMAfter looking at the movie a couple dozen times, an amazing clue just slapped me in my face.
The merovigian is trying to stop the reload of the matrix.
He is in effect working against the system to stop the cycle of "the one"
Do you remember when they went to the restaurant on floor 101 (the number on neo's apartment door on the first matrix movie).
The conversation went like this.
Morpheus : "You know why we are here"
Merovingian : "Yes, but do you. You think you know but you do not. You have been sent here and you obeyed"
Translation: "You are being setup"
And as if throw pearls to swine he explains
Merovingian : "Choice is an illusions setup between people who have power and people who do not. It's what separates us from them (people in the matrix) , you from me. Causality......"
Translation: "You are pawns and you don't even know it"
I believe the Merovigian grabbed the keymaker to lure "the One" to him in order to facilitate the insertion of Persephones "soul capture code" (the kiss).
The Merovigian knew they were coming. The restaurant scene was a setup. The Merovigian was playing with Neo by showing him the cake. Do you remember the candy that the Oracle gave him.
Remember what the Merovingian said "first the rush then the search for reason then over come by feeling the reason is gone and all that is left is the feeling.
Fast forward to the Architect. Neo's rush of emotion for trinity, remember the Oracles candy. the Architect already knew his "choice".
But it was not a choice, everything is going as planned by the machines.
The illusion of choice is playing out.
It is the Merovingian and Persephone who are attempting to break the cycle of "the One" by capturing Neo.
The Merovingian is attempting also to kill the Oracle the maintain facilitator of the cycle of "the One"
Why is smith not going after the Merovigian.
The Merovingian & Persephone are an anti-heroes
