Visually stunning, Requiem for a Dream (2000) is a testament to Darren Aronofsky's cinematographic genius. Aronofsky proved himself in the independent-film gone right Pi (1998), then followed it right up with another hit by adapting Hubert Selby Jr.'s Requiem into this superb film. Uncompromising, disturbing, superbly written and excellently acted, Requiem is one of those special movies that refuses convention in favor of innovation and artistry.

Even though it was the same photo-montage shown over and over with slight changes they were so beautiful they not only held my attention, but continued to do so as I watched the movie a second, third, fourth and fifth time.

Posted by: //Spetsnaz on March 20, 2005 09:01 AMI loved this film, used to own on DVD. can't find it anywhere, although i have a sneeking suspiscion (gotta be spelt wrong) that I, when exceedingly "loved-up", gave it to a man working the night shift at a petrol station when buying cigarettes - accompanied with somehting like the phrase "watch this it'll change your life - S'gooD I'm TELlling you". Regret is a funny thing: now not only do i not have the DVD, i try and avoid the petrol station for fear of been recognised by the staff as: "that nutter who gave -insert Name of petrol employee here (e.g. Dave) - that DVD". which is a complete bastard cos its the nearest 24hr place to my house - fuck. oh yeah - apolagies for lenght and moderate irrelevance of this post.
