The Princess Bride (1987)
[5 - Whoa!]
Easily one of the movies on my top five list, The Princess Bride (1987) is beautiful and enchanting. Beautifully written, wonderfully directed and perfectly cast, The Princess Bride is one of those few rare films where nothing should be changed.
In a masterful improvement over his own fairy tale, screenwriter William Goldman offers us enchanting scene after quotable, enchanting scene. It is hard to guess at the formula that makes Princess Bride so enchanting, but I guess it is a fine balance between all the elements that go into making a movie good. If you know me, you should probably watch this movie just so you can understand where I get the quotes that I use daily.
Posted by Leopoldo at February 24, 2003 03:43 AM | TrackBackWell, it's obvious how I feel about the number one movie of all time, considering I have a web site dedicated to it! The Princess Bride (http://www.princessbride.net) combines comedy and action in a romantic movie just brimming w/ excellent acting and a great score to produce a wonderful effect - pure movie magic. I've seen this movie literally dozens of times - it is a precious gem.

absolutely wonderful!
Next to the Fifth Element , this is my favorite movie of all time. When any one i know sees it is on , they call me and i am usually watching it :P . I loved Cary Elwys (or how ever you spell it) because of this movie and it has many many quotable lines . Andre the Giant was a lovable giant in this as well. It ia strange to see Mandy Petinkin as Inago Montoya after seeing hinm on Chicago hope but he was good .

Posted by: Alanis on March 24, 2005 07:27 AMBut did you read the book? the scene with the Lightning Sand in the book is heart stopping, but of course couldn't be reproduced visually - apart from that I agree with you all - I have never seen a film that so faithfully and perfectly follows a book and doesn't diminish either one.
Posted by: Susan on August 2, 2005 08:27 AMI actually have read the book and oddly enough Princes Bride is on my short list (3) of movies that are better than the book.
