More Star Wars Films?

[Movie News]

In an interview with FOXNews.com, George Lucas is quoted as saying:

"Essentially, Peter [Jackson] is making three three-hour movies out of one book," Lucas said. "And I'm making nine two-hour movies from one book."

Could this be a hint of more Star Wars movies to come? If they are anything like the last two, we can only pray this is a misquote.

His original idea was for 9 movies. I thought he had given up on that idea. Maybe he doesn't want to go out on this trilogy.

I always thought it would be lame to end the Star Wars series on this trilogy. I mean, what's going to be the end? The Jedis are all but killed off and in hiding. Anakin gives in to the dark side and becomes Darth. He and Amadala split up, the kids are without a dad. The kids are split up. The empire is on top and things look bad. Wow. Fun. What an uplifting last movie.

Now, if he'd hand over the reigns to someone who can make movies and doesn't just think about what cool special effects he can do now, someone like Shyamalan (a person who would probably jump at the chance, just like he would have for the next Raiders if they had given it to him), I'd be stoked.

Good reply Nick. I prepared a reply to your post and decided to make it an entry onto itself. Lets move this discussion over to:

It was a misquote, I checked the article and it was corrected. :) Thank the Lord!

I realize that it is the popular thing right now to bash Star Wars ... the media has historically hated it, and the rest of society who would otherwise be indifferent picks up on this. Still, believe it or not, there are actually qutie a *lot* of people out there who would be *delighted* to hear that there are more Star Wars films in the works. And you know, there are worse films to watch, even for SWhaters. Road Trip comes to mind.
