Producer Tom Rosenberg talked with IESB about the sequel to Underworld. The short report holds no surprises but does confirm Underworld 2 will cover more history for Selene and Viktor and will show us Marcus.

I hope the sequel just does some flashbacks for historical background and focuses more on Selene and Michael and their future. And no more slicing heads open with a 30 second delay (oh, she missed, wait, I don’t feel so good, hmm, is that the top of my head sliding off?), that ending almost ruined the movie for me.

it seems as though that the Marcus character will be a half vamp half lychen as well(the end scene in underworld) this should be interesting but it doesnt really explain WHY selene’s character would be hunted(as she explains in the narration at the end scene). i am looking forward to the sequel and i hope that the writers and such dont fuck it up like most sequels have been over the years. seems like politics in hollywood can sometimes prevent a good storyline and characters from continueing on. hope thats not the case here

How would Marcus be a Hybrid of lychen and vampyre? He’s all vampyre and they even said that in the movie. ” 2 asleep , one reins ” He’s IN the vampire house. He’s one of the ‘lords’ He can’t be part lychen if he’s head of the vampires. I just dont’ get how everyone get’s that he’s half lychen just from him opening his eyes…. O_o

Marcus is indeed a half breed. The comment about the scientist’s blood mixing with Marcus’s is correct. If you also remember correctly, the union of the two ..Marcus’s blood and the scientist’s blood is possible because Marcus is a direct descendant of the corvinus klan. meaning he possesses the exact same dna as Michael…but Marcus’s blood/dna is an even purer and much older source.

I have seen who is going to be in the next one, the movie is called Underworld:Evolution and it seems there is going to be flash backs because it shows who is going to Play Young selene, and it shows that Lucian is in it aswell. I can see how that is possible. Unless he is just in the flash backs. It does not explain how the Story line will be, but it shows the characters who will be in it. Kraven,Selene,Lucian,Marcus,Soren,Viktor,
Viktor must be in the flashbacks aswell as soren.If you have any Questions about how Lucian could be in the second one please ask them.

i have the unrated directors cut. its better than the theatrical version, underworld evolution is gonna b fucking badass. len wiseman said the movie has alot of snow, that sounds cool. yea i think the head splitting sequence at the end was bitching sweet. there will b a trilogy, i guess with underworld 2 as a prequel n underworld 3 as a sequel, im not really sure but cool as hell. i like dark gothic movies like underworld, the matrix, blade, hellboy, the punisher, x-men, star wars, lord of the rings, terminator, alien vs predator. they r all good n dark.

Very well. Seems like everyone think they can get half Vampire/Werewolf just by getting Michael Covinus blood. But you need Michaels PURE blood and both Lucian and Victor/Emilie or Marcus blood to make a Halfbreed. Michael was bitten by Lucian and by Selene (and selene was Turned by Victor wich means Selene got Victors blood). Only case Marcus can be a Halfbreed is that the mad scientist has injected Michaels blood into his bloodstreem along with Lucians before his blood spilled over Marcus body at the end of the film. Btw i liked the blonde better than Selene.

i absolutely luv underworld and hope like hell they dont skrew up the sequal. im hoping that cause they got the same director that he’ll keep it in the same flow. half the time sequals get stuffed by having diff directors wif a diff view. marcus’s eyes did the whole going black thing at the end of the movie. just like michaels. hense he becomes half and half. it makes sense that they needed PURE blood for their tampering. but marcus is a direct decendent and directly carries the virus that changed him into a vamp in the first place. so its possible that he’s gonna be a hybred. It’ll be interesting to see what happened to michael. i mean he could be like king of the lycan cause they all back off in the end… theyre scared of him. thats why theyd be hunted to probably.

I’ve read that the movie is the sequel, but has a 20 minute prequel to explain the story.
I seriously hope they don’t end it at two. Because Amelia and Viktor are dead, that only leaves Marcus as the primo bad guy (depending on your take). If they kill Marcus (which I’m 103 percent sure they will), that would end the 3 elders. Unless Kraven can make a tremendous comeback or have a monstrous twist, I don’t see a 3. I wish Amelia woulda thru one punch (she was HOT in a “you’re going to burn in hell” kinda way). She was weak for an Elder. I mean Viktor was man-handling the Lycans. He didn’t even have a gun. He woulda killed Michael (weak bastard) if Selene didn’t save him. I seriously hope Hollywood don’t Matrix reloaded|Matrix revolution……Blade 2|Blade trilogy this movie. I loved the first movies, the rest was eh…….you seen them. I still don’t know what the HELL Matrix Reloaded was about. I’ve seen the damn thing 50 times.
I love the Underworld, seen it twice in theathers and about 20 times on DVD.

all of this is true but what about kraven he stil lives remember. i think that the lycans are going to join with micheal and selene to fight the vampires lead by marcus who should be full vampire because he is a derect decedant of the corvinus clan and you dont see any vampires that has feasted on lycan blood turn into some flying lycan. this is going to be a killer movie!! oo ya i hope to see selene in more skin-tight leather!

okay… so in many aspects underworld sucked: bad acting and sci-fi endings, but 4 a movie with a buget of 20 mils, i think it worth the money. kewl special fx, nice soundtrack, adequate backgrounds and cool weapons. All of this made my skin crawl and gave me enough inspiration in making more than 10 computer wallpapers.
I’m looking forward to see the sequence!

It wasn’t leather. If you watch the director’s commentary on the dvd, you’ll find out that it’s actually rubber. The whole Marcus turning into a hybrid is pretty accurate {see his eyes at the very end of the movie? They look just like Michael’s} because they said that he has the same dna trait as Michael, but he was turned into a vampire. He can STILL be turned into a hybrid, though. Remember when Lucian bit Michael? He was a vampire then but Selene bit him and he became a hybrid, so I’m guessing it’s the same situation. Here’s hoping it’s an awesome sequel.

the marcus being a half breed thing… well, i found a hole… when the scientist was confessing to Viktor, the following happened:
1) he mentioned the originating bloodline
2) he was told that Markus was a descendent of such a bloodline
he said, then
3) “but he’s already a vampire…”
ok
so, if you need all 3 bloodlines to be a half-breed (which doesn’t make sense either, by the way), then how is marcus a half breed…?
in fact, considering the baseline human is also a descendant of the originating werewolf-vampire bloodline, he would actually more sensibly be immune to the effects of either bite, rather than become super-hybrid…
sorry… i liked this movie… but i generally like my sci-fi movies to make alittle MORE sense than just on the surface…

No, you’re stupid. The lychen blood woke him up, and Mrcus is a FULL vampyre. It’s just that the dead lychen’s blood reawoke him. I think that was fairly obvious from the awakening of Viktor. And if you don’t believe that ANY blood will do, just watch the movie again. You see lychens gorging on vampyre’s blood and vampyre’s blood all the time.

You guys HAVE to read the book. It goes so much deeper than the movie does. It tells more of the love story between Selene & Michael. Just to help clear a few things up. First of all, Singe, the scientist IS a lycan. It states in the book that Lucian has saved him from leukemia generations ago by turning him into a lycan. Second of all, at the very end, in the “epilouge” the last 2 sentances of the book where the book is describing the awakening of Marcus it states: “Jet-black eyes, just like Michael Cornin’s had become. Hybrid eyes.” This leads you to believe that Marcus will indeed be a hybrid. Again, ya’ll HAVE to read the book. It tells you so much more than the movie does. Thanks all!!

i love the effects the movie the story i only wish they would do as lotr did on thier dvds and add all deleted scenes in the dvd also dont go with the typical 2 hr movie make it at least 3 when you have a good movie it doesnt bore you to watch a 3 hr movie ,please make the sequel not just about micheal and selene i want to see more action between vampire and lycan and let the vampire have a fighting chance dont make them such pussies thanx cant wait for part 2 maybe 3

the 2nd book is a PREQUEL. if the story keeps to the book than we will have to wait a few more years for the tale of Michael and Selen . it tells about how the war started with lucyen. how he was a slave and became sonja’s lover/husband. it has more to do with the past than anything. the book is “UNDERWORLD 2 ‘BLOOD ENEMY’”.

ok. all of you are nerds. I’m not saying its a bad thing, shit, I am too. The only person that made a decent entry is Mystie.
I really like underworld. It kicks ass and beats the hell out of ,most of the other vampire movies out there, except for my fav. two, Interview with a vampire and Queen of the damned. I like these three movies cuz they don’t really have anything to do with the legend of dracula and how he was the first vampire. I also like the way that vampires aren’t allergic to garlic, crosses, ect. and all the other nonsense. If vampires really existed, their only true weaknesses would be sunlight, and their lust for blood.
I can’t wait for underworld 2 to come out and I really hope that its not just a prequel to underworld because i don’t wanna wait another two to three years to find out what happens to Selene and Micheal.

Do you have any idea who Marcus Corvinus was?
Corvinus means “the Raven”: he was a Roman soldier who fought against a giant gaulle on the Tiberian Bridge. he almost lost, but then a raven landed on his helmet and bit the eyes of the Gaulle out.
in the movie it is being made clear by Viktor that Marcus is a great and wise man ( in roman history he became a general). furthermore he says that Marcus is the connection between humans and vampires, some sort of source of them both. if there were no hybrids in that time, which is also made clear, how can he posess the blood of all three ( assuming Brandon’s theory here), if it is even doubtfull he posesses both of the other bloodtypes? He is referred to as the source, so then tell me; how can a source become it’s own end product, especially when three ingredients are needed and we don’t even know for sure he owns even two?

Marcus used to be a human (Human Blood)
He was turned into Vampire (Human blood now tainted with the Vampire strain)
He drinks Lycan blood (Human blood now tainted with Vampire and Lycan Strain = Hybrid)
Marcus is a descendant of Corvinus.
The reason Marcus’ blood couldnt be used by Lucian and Michaels was needed was because a Lycan could not drink Vampire blood unless he had the corvinus strain in him preventing him from dying (Yes Marcus’ Vampire blood has the Corvinus strain but its unlikely upon drinking the blood that the Corvinus strain would kick in fast enough to stop the Vampire blood from killing him, which is why he needed Corvinus Blood from a safe pure source, a human…..Michael!

Michael was a descendent of the Corvinus line. He became a Lycan when he was bitten by one and infected with the Lycan Virus. He became a Hybrid when he was bitten by a vampire and infected with the Vampire Virus. I know there is more to the hybrid thing that that but I don’t care. It does not say in the movie that Drinking the blood of a Vampire or Lycan will infect you. It says you are infected when you are bitten. Remember the scientist said if Lucian Injects himself with the mixture of bloods then he could become a hybrid, Not if he Drinks the blood. ( by the way Lucian did not give himself the Hybrid injection. He needed the blood of an elder for that and the big Lycan dropped that when he found Lucian. I don’t know what he injected) By this logic, Marcus should not be a Hybrid because he was not bitten by a lycan. He just drank lycan blood. However, so what? I enjoyed this movie very much and did not even question the marcus/Hybrid issue until I read this site. This Movie is about Vampires and Werewolves but everyone is questioning the one small point. Even me now thanks a lot. Just bring on more Hot Vampire chicks with hot costumes and cool weapons and I will watch every time.

But Why did it get a close up of Raze dropping the Blood Right next to Lucian, if it was not that important then it would not have shown, I think Lucian injected Himself with Amelia’s blood When no one was looking. Because in an eailer scene Lucian Injects himself with Michaels Blood So that he can inject himself with amelia’s blood. Why do you think there was two Needles with her blood in it One for Michael and one for him. but he could not get it to him in time so she bit him instead.

According to IMBd website, the film has Michael and Selene “unlocking the secrets of their bloodlines” and says that it is based on the prequel book. Tony Curran, Rodney the redheaed from Flight of the Phoenix, will play Marcus, so Apple, it looks like you get your wish, a young and handsome Marcus is in the cards. Amelia, Viktor and Lucien are all slated to come back too. While all this thoerizing over hybrid how-to’s is very interesiting, and I’m looking forward to the next movie with great anticipation, the big question on my mind is, if Kraven was always such a snivelling little schmuck, why did it not cross anyone’s mind in earlier centuries that he might not be the “great warrior” he made himself out to be, and why did Viktor not demand to see the actual body of Lucien as proof that Kraven killed him? If you have time to slice off some skin, you have time to chop off a head, ya know? Not trying to tell an elder how to do his job, but he could have saved himself a lot of trouble by double checking his little henchman, way back then. I haven’t gotten to read the books yet, but I really hope Michael settles the score with Kraven in the next movie.

the whole thing about kraven i think he will come back and show that he truly kicks a$$ and isnt a total puss. the marcus being half and half the lychen doctor pointed out that only a pure sorce can be bitten by both bat and wolf without fear of death. the lychen blood brought back marcus but that doesnt mean he will be half half. i mean seriously it doesnt matter if he carries the genes of corvinus the first man you see the doctor test was a descendant of corvinus and his blood was negative of the gene. what if marcus is negative too and the blood just revives him. i think the next movie will have michael die just because he supposedly stronger than both races and nearly got slaughtered bye viktor.

Just got the digital box for TV. I have watched Underworld at least five times. Turned my brother on to it as well. Get the book, it fills in some gaps in the movie. Can’t wait for the sequel.

here is my thoughts:
1st I believe that marcus will indeed be a hybred, he is a “decendant” of corvienus…not the original carrier. He was infected by a vampire having 2 bloodlines (drinking the lycan blood technically should not make him a hybred, as it was stated you must be “bitten” to become infected…a foobar in the story that I believe they hope no one caught on to). but in fact when marcus awoke opened his vampire frenzy blue eyes. they shifted to glossy black (like michael’s did) I think it’s pretty cut and dry what they were trying to imply with that.
someone stated above that the first guy that was tested proved negative, the oversite there was this michaels’ name is Corban…not Corvenus same with the other guy…the other guy probably wasn’t from the bloodline just had the same name. I also believe lucian is still alive and kicking films often use forshadowing to imply what will happen later, raze dropping the blood vials next to him and leaving them within easy reach screems forshadowing to me. and we do see him up and kicking before kraven again puts a few more rounds into him (he’s a smart guys i doubt he missed it). I think it was very obvious that seleen and michael are going to couple up.

here are some ideas I have about what will happen in the future: I think marcus will be spending his time trying to turn michael against seleen, because she is inferior. not being able to break their love, he will kill seleen 1 for what she did to viktor, and 2 because she is the reason michael will not join him. I doubt he will do it himself. he will conive the lycans to doing it (i think he will ultamately lead the lycans as they seemed less prejudiced against the blending. the vampire will be lead by kraven who will hunt seleen because of what she knows about him and what she did to him, he will hunt michael for revenge. I think seleen and michael will stive to find a way to turn her into a hybred, they will probably employee the fringers on both sides that don’t believe in the new politics. I think they will ultimately fail she will be killed by marcus, which will be the catalyst for michael to kill marcus, with michael finally becoming a scorned leader uniting both species in peace. like I said simply my opinion on things

well it was an out standing movie in fact i think its the greatest movie ever made regarding the fights between vamps and lycans(wolfs) but there were some parts i found it to be very disappointing like craven betrayed and assasinated all the council members so easily i just didnt expected them to be that bad like amelia which seemd to be strong like seleen only by the looks of her of course and more than all i hate the person or film maker who had played part or idea in victors death men to tell you the truth the only character i loved in that movie was victor and lucian only nobody else. may be a little bit of cravens character too but i think killing victor is the biggest mistake they made in the movie and despite the fact of his death thatmakes him the type of character who can not play in the second movie or the third if there is going to be is sad i guess what i am trying to say is that he should have died at all i remember probably almost at the ending of the movie when victor walked in that big houseroom and when he sow his first lycan he didnt have the slghtest idea of curiosity or any thing on his face he jusy squeezed his nacke and killed him just like that and i think that’s the kind of vamp i would hope marcus to be and i really do hope either seleen or michael will get there asses kicked in the next movie because victor died for no reason just only on seeking to destroy lycans and in which he was wright.

LOVED the first movie i thought it was great(even if the scene where Viktor and micheal fought at the end was a bit, hmm off i dont know maybe its the part where viktor sorta threw micheal against that pillar looked a bit fake thats all but apart from that its great) Its one of my favorite movies. I heard Underworld 2 has been delayed and its out Worldwide Jan 20th? very upsetting news is this is true. im soo looking forward to it. I heard someone mentioning Underworld books? very interested if someone will give me any info on this. Oh and peoples comments about selene and micheal getting together? DUH THEY ARE. did you not see the look at the end where they were looking at lucian’s necklace he took from sonja?? it basiclly means that they can have something he didnt. please get back to me on the books. i love vampire and werewolf type movies and books( interview with a vampire for example brill movie and book)

To: Twistedfaireytale…The book is Underworld, novelization by Greg Cox from the original script. I think I got it from Amazon, since it is a couple of years old. It really fills in some of the gaps in the movie. I enjoyed it and my brother did as well.

To clarify I think I need to break it down.
The entire reason that the lycan scientist was looking for a “pure source” was to turn ALL the lycans into hybrids. So although they were aware that Marcus was indeed a descendent of Corvinus, his blood wouldn’t help them in this because a lycan injected with his blood would die before ever transforming. The Corvinus trait has to be present in the entire body for a hybrid to be possible. Which is one of the reasons why Lucian bit Michael as soon as he saw him, to make sure he didn’t become a vampire first, rendering his blood useless to the Lycans.
As for Marcus becoming a hybrid, of course that’s what happened. First off, the fact that Selene didn’t inject Michael with vampire blood anymore than Lucian injected Michael with lycan blood to make him a lycan. Which means that the usual means of transforming someone else into either lycan or vampire works just as well. The lycans just didn’t think they were going to get some vampire to volunteer to start transforming them into hybrids, so they went for the most powerful vampire blood they could find, an elders. Secondly, Marcus was slumbering which meant he didn’t have any blood at all throughout his entire body. Remember the scene where Selene’s blood was reviving Viktor? Marcus’s entire body was permeated by lycan blood. Yeah, he’s a hybrid now.
The matter of Corvinus’ children is open for interpretation. I would assume that “children” is not necessarily literal in this case. Corvinus might have had kids before the plague hit who were elsewhere at the time, it said his “village” was destroyed, but seeing as he was a King he might have had more than one. And the people he decided to transform became his lycan and vampire children.
Or children he had even after transforming may have just turned out normal humans who didn’t transform if the plague was not present anymore.
All this is just what I think makes the most sense, I tried to cover everything and I hope it explains things for some people.

Finally someone else understands this movie!!!! Most of you just dont get it!!You know how you said about the elders blood? Didnt the lycans get it as they wanted to be sure that it would work, lucian is a powerful lycan right? so mixed with the corvinus blood and a powerful elders he could be sure that he would turn into a hybrid. I noticed someone saying earlier that lucian could still be alive…no way in the books(amazing by the way) the blood shatters on the floor, i think they only showed it for empahsis.I think he only reappears in the 2nd film because of the flashbacks.

the issue about lucian being still alive. that is a possibality, but as i read a commentry on the sequal, lucian will be in the movie in flash backs secnes and history.
the sequal of the movie, talk more about the history of the war, with vitor, emalie, marcus, lucian and i spose kraven. it also shows the war between selane and micheal with marcus.
to one idoit who asked how they killed the lycians in the past cause they had no guns, i hope it was obvious they had weapons in the past. as shown in the book that selane broke into, it showed a picture of vampires fighting with armour and swords. slicing is a good way to cut of some bodys head you know!
