I just found a movie trailer for Innocence: Ghost in the Shell 2 the new sequel to the classic anime Ghost in the Shell (1995). The sequel is slated for a premiere at Cannes this year and has a reported run time of 100 minutes. Guess most of us will have to wait for a DVD release.

“But that’s just my opinion, folks. If philosophy, the intricacies of futuristic technology, robotics, memory drives, characters who speak in quotes all the time and a plotline with enough complexities for you to devote an entire college semester to its deconstruction, interests you…well, okay, I’m being an ass. Bottom line, I considered this screening a torture session for myself…”

Well yes as a matter of fact…philosophy, futuristic technology, robotics, and complex plotline DO interest me, very much. My question is, why would you bother seeing this film at all if those things didn’t interest you? Personally, this scathing review just made me even more anxious to see the film.

Im not worried. The reviewer thought Spielbergs A.I was better than Spirited Away. So, you know. What can I say?

Comment - Can anyone inform me wether or not GHOST IN THE SHELL 2 is
    having a UK cinema release.
I am already annoyed with the uk for proudly presenting 3d films such
    as
SHARKS TALE when films like GITS-2 which has an amazing story and
    visually
fantastic, does not even get a mention.

Ghost in the shell-2 is meant for the big screen. not some 28 inch
    panasonic from argos.

Surely im not the only one who feels this way.

I agree with Marlon. I think there is a problem with the UK in that they do not bother with film like GITS2. But there you go. Anime is not considered to be profit making. :(

We are lucky. Here, we have been able to put the movie On the IMAX screen. But the thing that sucks is that people who came to see it, were not open to that kind of movie (they are still in their ‘’Armagedon'’ type of movie). So they just quit in the middle of the movie because it was too slow or too boring for them… Who would accept a serious Anime Movie like GITS-2 (who is a great production where you need to put all your mind, or to see it twice, just to understand the movie)?
