Eccleston to be new Dr Who

According to an article at BBC NEWS actor Christopher Eccleston (Shallow Grave (1994), Elizabeth (1998), The Others (2001), 28 Days Later… (2002)) has been cast as the next Dr. Who in the re-emerging TV Series. An earlier report stated that the BBC is trying to buy back the rights to the Daleks so they may appear in the new show.

I can’t remember, did you ever see Shallow Grave? That’s a disturbing movie. I watched it again recently on IFC and it still messed with me. Much more disturbing than Trainspotting. I think it’s superior in many ways, too.
That guy has the requisite oddness to play the part.

Eccleston is also portraying the younger Grand Moff Tarkin in Episode III. Here’s a link with a side by side comparison of Peter Cushing in the original Star Wars, and Eccleston in his make-up for Episode III. He looks older and scarier in Ep 3.
