TNG: Q Who

How can you loose with John de Lancie back as the interminable Q? TNG: Q Who has one of my favorite Star Trek moments where the omnipotent Q shrinks away in fear of Guinan while telling Picard “you have no idea what you have brought onboard your ship, she is not what she appears to be”. Q afraid of the mysterious Guinan? That had me so exited to find out what he was referring to, a moment that I am sorry to say never came.

    That, I think, is part of what makes Guinan so cool. We never find out exactly who she is, or what she’s doing on the Enterprise. It’s never explained.

    Quite right. I really want to know who Guinan is… but if I were to find out she would loose her mystique. I am glad we got another glimpse into her past in ‘Generations’.

    Yes, we find out in Generations she is an El Aurian … a race of ‘listeners’. It’s never explained exactly what this ‘listening’ consists of but obviously, it’s some kind of power. A very intriguing premise, and well done in that the more we find out about her, the more mysterious Guinan is.

    I had noticed it as well and have wondered if Whopi Goldberg has no eyebrows or if that is just true for the Guinan character.

    I think that Guinan has special powers that don’t necessarily come from her being a listener.

    I can’t help wondering what’s with those singularly bizarre hats Guinan always wears. Maybe it’s some El-Aurian cultural thing.

    54e you rule whoopi is eyebrowless. i love star trek baby! it is the best show to ever be composed by humans.
