TNG: A Matter of Honor

In another very well written episode TNG: A Matter of Honor we once again get to see one of the Enterprise regulars stretch a bit. This time it is Jonathan Frakes’s turn to show some range as Riker gets to serve on an officer exchange program aboard a Klingon cruiser. This delightful opportunity to see life aboard a Klingon ship gave me hope when I heard about the suggestion to make an all-Klingon series (which was later nixed in favor of “Star Trek: Voyager” (1995)).

Yes, this was a overall good episode. Although the Klingon captain was rather unfortunately casted, and consequently I spent the whole episode looking at him as a reincarnated Pakled.

Yeah, I know that now, but I didn’t when I posted my first comments. Well, nobody use my email address anymore, y’hear?

Not hard to do, just kind of weird. Why would someone make a commment and use someone else’s email address? Be sure you don’t select ‘Remember Info’ at the bottom if you are using a public computer that someone else might use. Also let me know if you see another faked posting, I can tell where every posting originates if I need to.

The best part of this episode is when Riker eats the gagh and all that otehr stuff on the Enterprise, and grosses out Picard and Troi … Oh, and the stare-down between him and the Klingon captain. This is a good episode. Well scripted.

I like it when Riker says “Yesterday, I did not know how to eat gagh” and eats the live gagh like the other Klingons. The Mendon subplot was also interesting. Love the Benzites. And I promise, this isn’t just an oblique way of saying I love any and all scenes with Wesley.
Also, this one was actually before ‘Samaritan Snare’, so it would actually be that the Pakled
guy was a reincarnated Klingon. But whatever…

Though I would expect the officer exchange program premise to be fascinating, I actually was a little bored by this one, though it was a good watch-once episode.

This was a very interesting episode! It might have gotten a little bit boring if all they had was the stuff on the Klingon ship (the Klingons can get tiresome if there’s too much of them in a episode) but they quite wisely had the Mendon subplot to round out the show.
