Empire Records (1995)

Short skirts, loud music and even shorter skirts punctuate the story about a bunch of teenagers trying to save the music store they work for in director Allan Moyle’s Empire Records (1995). I may have been expecting too much from the director who brought us Pump Up the Volume (1990), but Empire Records seemed rather pointless. There is plenty of teen-angst as well as some strong talent (Renée Zellweger, Liv Tyler, Rory Cochrane, Johnny Whitworth, Debi Mazar) but the story about an independent record store manager (Anthony LaPaglia) trying to ‘take care of his kids’ as he takes care of himself never seemed to do much more than give an excuse for our teens to dance around the store and sing into cleaning tools. On the plus side we do get to see both Zellweger and Tyler in their underwear.

Empire records is the best film ever, well apart from lord of the rings! Its funny, its sexy and it depicts teens fantastically, im watchin it now, its just great!!!

oh my god empire records is like the best film ever made. i’m not exaggerating when i say that i’ve probably watched it over 200 times. i can quote the whole film!!! how could anyone say this film is pointless, there are so many brilliant quotes in it, ‘Damn the man’ ‘the fat man walks alone’ ‘ohh rexy you’re so sexy’. And as for the guys… AJ is fit, lucas is wicked, mark and eddie are dudes and warren is brilliant! It is a film that everyone in the world should watch, and i’ve made it my mission to show to as many people as possible- i’ve managed to collect quite a few new fans for it! Damn the man, Save the Empire!!!!

This movie is like the best mann! OK A.J. is Super hott and a great actor! Corey and Him would make a great couple its got just the right amount of Drama and Comedy in it dude it rox!

This is has all the elements for a classic! It never gets old, but you obviously have to be old not to love it! Not only is it in a genre of its own, it has a rockin sound track. Damn the Man!! Save the Empire!!

This movie kicks but!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has definatley got it’s place in my TOP 5 movie list!The soundtrack is kick ass!!!!!!! Rex Manning is the funniest guy in the univers and although Renee plays a slut ya still gotta love her. And Warren…… i wanna marry him some day, or Mark, or Lucas, or AJ. They all rock!!! And Deb is bloody awsome….. and one of the best songs ever is sugarhigh…….

I love empire records, truly amazing. Warren is wicked and i definately have to say Debs is cool and funny when she insults Gina. Good cast and i liked the story line. ‘ohh rexy you’re so sexy’ hehe brilliant.

wow. everyone loves their empire records. and although it IS my favorite movie, i’m not going to get all crazy and scary about it. yes, it is a pointless movie. and…that’s the point. it’s a fun, goofy, and actually somewhat intelligent movie… and, like the others say, i’d have to give it a higher rating than a stinkin’ 2. my personal opinion would have to give it a…well… WHOA! as you put it.

This movie is fucking amazing. It amazes me how they can nail charecterization so beautifully and create those relationships with awesome, memorable dialogue as well. Also, an awesome cast and a bitchin movie in general. (Too bad Coyote Shivers doesn’t get the attention he deserves in this) I’m amazed that it didn’t do as well as it should’ve. I watch this all the time and can’t get sick of it. This movie seriously rocks!

One of the best movies ever!! I must have watched it about 30 times in two weeks and I still need to get my daily fix of Lucas/Joe. Yep you read correctly. Lucas/Joe is the best pairing of the all movie (even though AJ/Deb is a close second) and don’t you even start denying it. Look at how Joe does not give up Lucas to the law, turns himself into a lier for him and if you still have doubts look at Lucas little smile when Joe lies to Mitch for him then their interaction while talking to Mitch near the end of the movie and the famous “I knew you weren’t happy” line. They simply belong together.
Plus everybody else is completely right, the oneliners during the all movie are fantastic and the all soundtrack is magnificent! I do not regret the things I’ve done but those I did not do. V

I need some Empire help. I am trying to find a copy of not the original music, but the other soundtrak. I think it may have been a bootleg cd. It had/has Renee Zellweger’s version of the Coyote Shivers ‘SugarHigh’ on it. I’ve seen this on ebay just once a few years ago. I’m still sorry I lost that auction. It was titled something like ‘Empire Records: The Other 20 songs’. If anyone can PLEASE send me a link or a note about where to find it, I would be very grateful.

OMFG This is one of the best movies ever i own it lol well my sister does and i try to watch it all the time it is so f*cking awsome. BURKO ( i think thats how it is spelled lol) is fuckin hot just like AJ, Lucus, Mark, Warren and Joe. Eddie is just do sweet tryin to help every1 with their problems the girls are hot lol. The soundtrack is awsome have that 2 lol. the whole thing just kicks major ass i don’t kno how any1 could not love if not at least like this movie it is one of the best movies ever made.
