TNG: The Tetris Episode and the JGFG

robinlefler.jpg
I have been watching Star Trek TNG on DVD. Half way through season four is the episode called “The Game” a.k.a. “The Tetris Episode.” In this episode, Wesley Crusher discovers that a highly addictive game everyone is playing acts as a psychotropic drug. I distinctly remember seeing this episode when it first aired (and when Tetris was the drug of choice at my college). It was during that episode that I coined with the term JGFG. At the end of the episode Wesley and his new girlfriend Robin walk out of her quarters, each with a grin that screams “I just got laid.” When describing the moment to a friend, the natural term to use was a “JGFG”? What is a JGFG? Why that would be a Just Got Fucked Grin

HELLO????!!!! Are you people OUT OF YOUR MIND???!!!!!!!!
I can’t speak for Robin, but I know Wesley, and he would NEVER, EVER, have sex with someone he wasn’t married to. EVER. Just watch the episode ‘Justice’ and you’ll know what I mean. Or go read the book ‘Q-In-Law’ by Peter David.

Brace yourselves. You’ve just activated my ‘defend Wesley’s honor’program. Have you forgotten the episode Justice? Wesley, the guy who, when he thought the blonde alien girl wanted him to teach her how to have sex, got so embarrassed you can almost see him turn crimson?
It’s actually kind of cute, in a way. And you are asking me to believe that he went from the painfully embarrassed teenager in Justice, to a jerk who goes to bed with a girl he’s only known a short time? If you think that, then you really don’t know Wesley.

Look, kshitrayah or wotever you call yourself, can’t you find it in yourself to, you know, lighten up?

Sorry. You’re right, I should lighten up a bit. Just because I’m totally serious about defending Wesley’s honour doesn’t mean it’s OK to be completely uptight and yell at unsuspecting people who happened to pick just the wrong thing to say, and don’t know how much this means to me.
Adn it’s ‘kshatriyah’. Say it with me. K-S-H-A-T-R-I-A-H. (I got it from ‘The Iron Ring’ by Lloyd Alexander. It’s a really good book.)

Oops…I forgot to put in the Y. OK, *this* is how it’s spelled(and I promise, no mistakes this time): K-S-H-A-T-R-I-Y-A-H.

LMAO, defending his honor? Robin was played by Ashley Judd…. If Wesley hadn’t gotten up enough gumption during his time at Starfleet Academy to be able to give in to that temptation, he doesn’t need his honor defended, he needs somebody to give him a pair. C’mon, it’s not like the boy was still 14 or 15 years old.

Yes, well ‘having a pair’ has nothing to do with it. Some people know it’s wrong to have sex with someone you’re not married to. And Wesley is one of those people.

As Diane has surely said someowhere else, Wes has morals, he’s not like Commmander Ryker.

This is unbeleivable, what does being married have anything to do with it? Especially in the 24th century when they have shown a society that has come to it’s senses and become secular. Morals my ass, they can have responsible fun as consenting adults and their is nothing wrong with that. Just because today some people still feel it shameful to enjoy yourself because of some stupid religous dogma means nothing in Wesleys time. Sex is not going to reduce your morals to piles of rubble, it is just a basic biological function that happens to let people stimulate their hypothalmus and enjoy the sensation.
