Newsweek article “The Matrix Makers”

Newsweek has posted a very interesting article on the next two movies in the Matrix trilogy, Reloaded and Revolutions titled The Matrix Makers.

The article talks about the making of the movie and gives broad details about the plots. It can be hard to tell with media for media articles like these how much of the hype is real and how much is heartfelt. In this case there seems to be real enthusiasm for the movies and a very real intent in the part of the Wachowski brothers to outdo themselves in the sequel. A few key quotes from the article:

“The theater that Silver reserved for his grand unveiling was juiced with 35 Warners executives—and one NEWSWEEK journalist—by 2:25. By 2:50, people were peeling their jaws off the floor.”
“ “Reloaded” arrives in theaters on May 15. Then, in a potentially risky strategy, Warner Bros. will release “Revolutions” just six months later”
“Silver is promising a climactic battle like we’ve never seen before: a 17-minute sequence that alone cost about two thirds of the budget of the first “Matrix.” (That film, in case you’re wondering, cost $65 million.)”
